Context:

Hello everyone in this lecture we will discuss about Computer Network.

In this Lecture we will discuss about Network, 1st Computer Network, Characteristics of Network, Network Devices, Network types, Network Advantages and also Network Disadvantages.  

 

Computer Networking:

 Network: A group of Computer which are connected to each other for the purpose of sharing their   resources is called Computer Network.

 

1^st Computer Network:

 ARPANET:  Advance Research Project Agency Network.

 

Characteristics of Computer Network:

1       Resource sharing

2)       Communication speed

3)        Backup

4)        Scalability

5)        Reliability

6)        S/W  & H/W (Software & Hardware)Sharing

7)         Security

 

Network Devices:

1)       HUB

2)       Switch

3)       BRIDGE

4)       Gateway

5)       Modem

6)       Router

7)       Repeater etc.

 

Network Types:

          PAN (Personal Area Network) Range (0 to 10 meter) it is used in Home, Mobile Hotspot etc.

2)      LAN (Local Area Network) It is used in Office. Range (150 Meter).

3)      MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) It used in hospital, Collage, Factory and an city etc. It    is collection of LAN Network. Range(50KM)

4)      WAN (Wide Area Network) It is collection of LAN and MAN Network. It is used to   connect countries or world, it not have any range.

 

Advantages:

1)        Open to Everyone

2)        File sharing

3)        Security

4)         Easy to add new devices

5)        Backup & storage

      Disadvantages:

1)         N/W devices (HUB, SWITCH etc.)

2)          Virus attack

3)           Required Handler

4)           High speed internet

5)            Server
